This is what you call a "heart in your mouth" day. Bob and Michelle Mathew, Robin and Judy
Gineman, of Indiana, and the crew, were having a lovely day on the Gulf of Mexico, when a 20 pound Kingfish
screamed the reel on our flatline. After setting the hook I handed the Shimano Trinidad to Bob with the reel still
blazing. He fought the King for a short time when our adrenoline once more was called upon. One of the largest
Blacktip Shark I have ever seen (140 pounds) was putting our King through the paces. Then grabbing the King
by the tail, he bit off about a foot. Bob quickly retreived the injured Kingfish, and while he was still bleeding in the
water, mate Rick Moore threw a Shad to the hungry shark on a TLD 15. The Blacktip nailed it and proceded to run
about 300 yards of line off the reel while Rick handed the rod over to Robin. To make a half hour story short,
the angry shark almost wore Robin to his knees, but he handeled it great. After Robin's long fight, we sank two
gaff's in the monster and dragged him aboard. This is the type of excitement we try for on every trip. Thank you
Bob, Michelle, Robin, and Judy for such a great day on the Gulf. We hope to see you all again soon.
