2006 Spring Report
OFFSHORE We came through last years surprisingly well, but
with a little more work to do it. This Winter it seems that the week-enders and snow birds have congregated on top of the Amberjack areas,
and don't want to leave. It seems that they sit there all day and just throw back fish. This is legal. However, I don't believe they know what
they are doing to the fish. The fish get very spooky, won't eat, and sometimes look for other areas to find food. Usually you can get your
limit in about an hour or an hour and a half. After that is is time to move on so as not to ruin the fishing for everybody else.
Maybe this will help the Amberjack next year.
The Spring weather was a little ruogh, but it seems to be setteling down now. We are landing a lot of Kingfish, but not real huge. There are
some in the 30 to 40 pound areas, but that's about as large as we have lnaded so far, but, we are still looking for that fifty or sixty pounder.
Snapper have been a little slow coming back to the areas they were plentiful in before last season, but we are seeing signs of more each time
out, and that is good. The Cobia are a little late this year, but we are having a tremendous time with the Little Tuny (false albecore). Over all
we are having a lot of fun with these fish, and some of the great eating fish on the bottom like Triggerfish are eating quite well. Make an
appointment to have a great fight with some of our Gulf Sportfish.
