2006 Summer Report

OFFSHORE
The Summer has come on strong. It was a little slow to start but when it started we couldn't stop it, not that we wanted to. The Spring fish were medium sized fish, although we shouldn't complain, they were some great fights. BUT, the Summer fish are still going in the fall. We are catching fish like Kingfish, and I dont't mean just snakes, but huge 55 pound, and another 58.68 pounder, and Cobia over 50 pounds. Now, these fish usually play out and go North or to deeper cooler waters about mid July, but they are still coming in the middle of August with no sign of stopping. We may run right into the Fall, October season without a let up. Of course this makes us extremely happy, and our customers as well. We still have a great amount of small and medium sized bait here. It is unusual at this time of year for so much baitfish to be present on the short reefs, but they are loaded, and this is keeping the Kings, Little Tuny, Cobia, Shark, and some Dolphin around. We had a great Dolphin season also, and landed many in the 10 to 12 pound size late. We are still looking forward to the Dolphin in the late Fall, which we sometimes get. Well, come and try it. It has been great so far.
