OFFSHORE The year began rather cold and windy, but the Amberjack didn't mind, they ate
with a pasion. We had a great year with Amberjack this last year. The Kingfish season was a little late because the weather couldn't make it's
mind. But finally the Kings came and the sizes were really good. A lot bigger than normal average, with many in the thirty and forty pound class.
The Red Grouper were a little slow to come in also because of the slow raise in water temp, but when they came, it was a good season. Snapper
were nearly everywhere, and in good size. Tarpon started a little late, and seemed to be in smaller pods, but this was probably because of the
water temp again. The Shark season wasn't as concentrated in the bays as usual, they were spread out all over the place.
We were catching them everywhere offshore from six mile out to thirty mile out. The Kings didn't go away this year, they stayed through the hot
water in larger numbers than usual, and we caught them right up into December. In fact we mounted one forty pounder in mid December. We had a
lot of unusual things happen with turtles, shark, birds getting hit by Kings both trying to eat our bait, Sailfish coming right up to the boat, catching Dolphin
six mile out, a lot of moving Cobia where it was unusual to find them, and to say the least, a great year. The Cuda were spread out a lot this year
and only seemed to be concentrated in a few places. The Blackfin Tuna came in close in the fall, and
were in good numbers and size. Approximate average was a little high at around thirty pounds, and several Bull Shark took our baits late in the season
when they should have been in much warmer water. I think the reason was because we have had extremely good bait running on the bottom this last year. It
seems to be carying over to this year. The Gag Grouper have been in close in good size and numbers. I believe our switch to YO-ZURI HYBRID LINE this
last season has been a great part of our landing a lot of Trophy Fish. You need to put some on and try it, it can make THE difference.
Well, it's time to get out there after 'em, so come visit and we'll have a grand ol' time.
Below is just a few of our rememberences for this year, there isn't room for all of them, but you will find the rest of them on the Thumbnails Menu.
Bent rods and screaming reels, see ya on the water.
