OFFSHORE The Spring season started a little late due to so
much Winter winds and the cooling of the waters here. We did however manage to have a pretty good Amberjack season in January,
February, and March. Our Big King season didn't start until April this year. It usually starts the second week in March, but it finally
came. We landed some great Kings, and made a lot of people very happy and tired in April/May, and they are still coming. Last week we landed
8 Kings over forty pounds, and 3 neared the fifty pound mark. That's quite a week of Trophy King angling.
We also have landed too many Little Tuny to count, and this has made the people who like asian style foods very happy, of course they
are very good grilled and in Tuna Salads also, and a delight smoked. The fights with these sea creatures are unbelievable unless you've
fought one. They just do not give up. You think you have them and then they make another strong run. We don't drag them to death with
the boat by trolling, but give you the full fight by free lining for them. That way you get the full fight of the fish.
The Shark have beel quite large this Spring season also. We've been getting quite a few from 150 to 300 pounds. Mostly Bulls, Blacknose,
Black Tip, and Spinners. Some of these fights last as long as two and a half hours. Mostly everyone in the boat gets to fight these fish.
The nice thing about this is the season is not over by any means, we are still catching them every day or so. We have been bringing in
some nice sized Gag Grouper also with a Snapper here and there and a Cobia now and then. Soon we will be fishing a lot of Snapper at
these same places.
So, make your reservations now for some big Kings, lots of Little Tuny, Grouper/Snapper, Cobia, or Shark. The Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, and
Dolphin season is right around the corner in June.
Bent rods and screaming reels, see ya on the water.
